City resident Albert Colone, an organizer of the Greater Oneonta Economic Development Council, said a meeting Wednesday will focus on "big ideas" and "low hanging fruit." That meeting for area business leaders is at 4 p.m. in the Hampton Inn conference room. Colone decided to take on the challenge, recognizing that the current 19th Century structure of government throughout the Upstate Region posed a significant deterrent to economic and cultural development. Colone said, "the way I see it, we have way too many borders and boundary lines, too many duplicative and competing local governments that resist inter-municipal planning, development and cooperation."
