Colone Associates, a soccer management company based in Oneonta, NY, hosted 231 youth soccer teams this summer through its various events; NY/NY Premier, "B.C. Kicks" and the Great Lehigh Valley Soccer Festival. Teams from Canada to Virginia and points in between came to play. Over the course of the three top quality events, 450 plus soccer matches were played involving around 3500 player/families. Combined, direct travel business resulting from the 3 multi part programs reached an estimated $800,000 to $1 million.
Pete Moore, Director of Tournament Operations for Colone Associates, said "that with the addition of future programs and events that are now on the horizon, combined event participation could reach 500 teams by 2005." He continued, "in fact, we're now looking to grow our tournament management group." US Youth Soccer's Region I has an estimated 35,000 soccer teams with around 50% that regularly travel to tournaments, so there's considerable growth potential. Moore said, "with others involved operationally, event sites outside of Region I become practical."
The 3-part Nice n Easy-NY/NY Premier is hosted by the Chenango Chargers SC and is played in Oxford/Chenango County, NY, Euro Futbol United hosted the 2-part "B.C. Kicks" in Binghamton/Broome County, NY and the Great Lehigh Valley Soccer Festival was played over the Labor Day weekend in Allentown, PA.
Colone Associates serves as project/program management consultant to the Chenango Chargers' SC, in addition to running tournaments, also is assisting the Club in the development of the$750,000 David L. Emerson Soccer Farm, currently featuring 2 of the very best soccer fields anywhere.
